Elmco Insurance was established in 1958 by Emmett Lee Meadows, a former Marine, as a full-service insurance organization in Santa Ana, California. Lee's first full year as an agent was 1962 with John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company — and his dedication was so exceptional that he qualified for the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table for eleven consecutive years, earning lifetime membership. His wife Jean supported the agency from the beginning, gathering records from the County Recorder's Office weekly for their direct mail campaigns.
The agency grew from Lee and three employees to a staff of sixteen. In 1973, Lee's son Tom Meadows joined the team. By 1988, Tom became President — and for decades, he led the agency with the same commitment to personal service that Lee built. Tom later transitioned to Chief Financial Officer as the agency grew into its next generation of leadership.
In 2019, Jamie Richardson — Tom's daughter and Lee's granddaughter — became President of Elmco Insurance. The legacy continues with the same values the Meadows family has carried since 1958: personal service, honest counsel, and putting clients first.
